JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A D'Iberville man is charged with arson after investigators say he tried to burn down a home in Gulf Park Estates. And it's not the first time Jackson County sheriff's deputies have been called to the house on Clamshell Avenue.
Sheriff Mike Ezell said there appears to be an ongoing dispute between Tony Truong, 26, and the victim who was inside the home at the time of the fire.
Deputies were initially called to the home to investigate a burglary in progress. When they arrived, they saw a fire in the driveway next to the home, and the homeowner using a hose to douse the flames. They also found a metal kerosene can with a rag hanging from the lid.
The sheriff said video surveillance shows a man standing in the front yard holding the can and throwing it through the carport window. The flammable liquid ignited part of the floor and a wall of the carport.
Luckily, no one at the home was injured in the fire.
The suspect, Tony Truong, was booked on one count of arson. After being booked at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center, he posted a $10,000 bond.
Despite deputies being called to the home four times in the last year, Sheriff Ezell said neighbors shouldn't worry about these "isolated incidents."
