Javier Bettancourt provided a fireworks display a night before the Fourth of July celebration on Tuesday. Bettancourt broke open a 1-1 game with the Barons in Birmingham, belting a two-run triple that plated the go-ahead runs in the top of the 12th inning. Johnny Davis followed with a bunt single that scored Bettancourt from third base with the Shuckers third run in the inning.
Matt Ramsey relieved winning pitcher Josh Uhen (W, 2-2) in the bottom of the 12th and proceeded to toss three strikeouts to close the door on the Barons and preserve a 4-1 victory. That was the 19th save for Ramsey.
Bettancourt provided the big stick for Biloxi (42-38) hitting safely in 3 of his 5 trips to the plate. Gabriel Noriega drove in the Shuckers first run in the top of the 7th inning with a single.
Corbin Burnes got the starting nod on the mound for the Shuckers. In six innings he gave up no runs on 5 hits and 5 strikeouts. Jorge Lopez pitched 2 inning. The Barons got three hits and run off Lopez. Taylor Scott replaced Lopez on the mound and he tossed 2 shutout innings. John Uhen didn't give up a hit in the 11th inning before Ramsey shutdown the Barons in the 12th.
The Shuckers return to MGM Park July 4th hosting the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at 6:35 p.m. Following Tuesday's game, the Shuckers will launch a Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza.
