BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Thanks to a partnership between the Biloxi NAACP and Overtime Sports, a Coast soup kitchen has money to continue filling bowls.
On Saturday, the NAACP presented a $645 check to Loaves and Fishes. Funds were raised by sales and promotions at the 2017 Conference USA Baseball Tournament at MGM Park.
As a first-round game sponsor, the NAACP received $1 per ticket sold and donated the money to the soup kitchen.
"We want to thank Tim Bennett and Overtime Sports, along with his dedicated and professional staff for their commitment to the community and helping everybody do better," said Gordon Jackson, Chair of the Baseball Diversity Committee. "With their invaluable contribution to the Biloxi Shuckers and the overall baseball community, the area is surely a better place for everyone."
The sporting event brought in record single-game and overall event crowds during the 8-team, double elimination tournament.
