M.E.M.A Honored For Disaster Role

As you might expect, the shrimpers will keep a close eye on the weather, when the season opens on Tuesday morning. That's something the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency does everyday. Thanks to MEMA, Mississippi counties are able to clean up and rebuild after weather disasters.

Today, Governor Musgrove spoke at MEMA's annual conference. The governor credited MEMA directors because of the vital role they play in Mississippi's future.

However, 29 Mississippi counties don't have a MEMA director. So if a disaster struck those areas, they wouldn't be eligible for federal assistance.
