Sweet Treats Bound For The Big Apple

Student chefs at USM Gulf Coast are preparing some Mississippi taste treats for an upcoming picnic in New York City. Students from the Culinary Arts Academy spent the morning making 300 pralines. The sugar, syrup and pecan creations will be among the featured foods at the annual "Mississippi Picnic" in New York's Central Park this weekend.

Representatives from the University of Southern Mississippi will be among several groups represented at the 22nd annual event. The picnic is designed to give New Yorkers a positive impression about Mississippi.
