GULFPORT, MS -

Some people in Gulfport are working on cleaning up vandalism and hate speech at a vacant property that is frequently populated by local youth.

The graffiti, which included a number of sensitive subjects, was painted in several parts of the property. Phrases like, "I don't see nothin' wrong with mass homicide" and "Hitler did nothing wrong," could be seen in plain sight.

Teenagers often gather at the vacant Gulfport lot to skateboard, something that the property owner has approved.

One woman who used to manage the property said she is disappointed to see the hate that was left behind.

"I'm very sad to see that there's hate anywhere, and certainly not where the kids are skating," said real estate manager Claudia Keyes.

Keyes was shocked when she found out the property that she once owned was recently vandalized with graffiti and hate speech.

"To think that someone would defame someone else's property is just not acceptable, " said Keyes.

Keyes's grandson Andrew Buras also used the lot-turned-skate park on a daily basis.

"It's just all negative. People shouldn't be saying this," said Buras. "If that's your thought, keep it to yourself. Don't let anything bad come out of it. Keep it to yourself. Keep everything one."

Keyes says that those who frequent the park have worked hard to keep the place clean and safe for the kids to use.

"The owner of the property has been so kind to let the kids all skate here because they don't have anywhere else to skate," she said. "They're not a nuisance. They're fun. The police monitor this place, as well. They're just out here to fun because there's nowhere else to skate."

Those who have volunteered to clean up the popular hangout hope to have all of the vandalism cleaned up over the next few days.
