Jason Knight is training for another big UFC featherweight bout set for July 29 in Anaheim, California. Knight battles Ricardo Lamas who is ranked #3 in the world.
Knight defeated highly regarded Chase Kelly in May...a win that provided Jason with a $50,000 bonus.
Knight said, "He was a Division I wrestler and we knew he was going to try to take me down. So, we worked real hard to defending the take down and I worked really hard on my stand up. I was able to stop most of his take downs and I ended up with a TKO in the third round."
Mike Sanford is a Jujitsu Instructor who trains Knight
"If Jason ends up beating Ricardo Lamas the skies the limit, "said Sanford. "It's very possible he could get into a title shot after this fight, depending on what happens to the division."
Chase Sherman takes on Damian Grabowski on July 22nd in a UFC Heavyweight fight.
Chase stopped Rashad Coulter in May on the same UFC card that Knight won his bout. Like Knight, Sherman also picked up a $50,000 performance bonus.
Sanford said, "Chase is actually filling-in for somebody who got hurt. he's fight UFC Long Island back in my hometown. So, we're really excited about that. He also trains with Greg Jackson's gym a little bit so he's there right now preparing for his fight with his standup instructor Winkle John and training everyday with John Jones when he's up there. Then he comes back here."
