D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

Police have arrested the man suspected of trying to rob a bank in D'Iberville Saturday.

Roy Williams is charged with attempted robbery. Authorities say a concerned citizen contacted police, which enabled officers to locate and arrest Williams on Sunday.

Around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, police say Williams allegedly jumped over the counter at Woodforest National Bank inside the Walmart on Sangani Boulevard, attempting to take money from the cash drawer while the teller counted it. After being unsuccessful in his efforts to steal the money, the suspect took off on foot.

Williams was taken to Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he was booked under a $50,000 bond.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the D'Iberville Police Department at (228) 396-4252, or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
