GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A Pass Christian man was arrested Thursday and charged with three counts of aggravated assault in a June 15 shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

Sgt. Joshua Bromen, with the Gulfport Police Department, said the shooting happened after a drug deal gone bad at the William Bell Apartments on 65th Ave.

Bromen said three people went to the apartment complex to buy marijuana late that night. Michael De’Anthony Smith, 23, allegedly shot at those people after a fight broke out.

Bromen said one person was hit in the leg and treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators were able to develop Smith as a suspect in the shooting, and he was arrested Thursday without incident.

Smith was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $525,000 bond.
