D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

The D’Iberville Fire Department had to send a canoe to rescue two men after they drove around a barrier blocking a flooded road and got stuck.

Flooding from the Tchoutacabouffa River has shut down roads in the area of Lamey Bridge Rd. from Lickskillet Rd. to Johnson Still Rd. since Wednesday.

Fire Chief Gerald Smith said the men drove around a barrier at Johnson Still Rd. on Thursday and quickly found themselves in trouble.

Smith said the truck they were in got stuck and stalled out on River Bluff Rd. That’s when the fire department was called in to help. Water was nearly up to the dashboard of the truck before help arrived.

The vehicle is still stranded in the water, but thankfully the men were rescued with no injuries.
