Authorities: 5 men arrested in drug investigation

PICAYUNE, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say five members of a drug-trafficking organization that distributed meth and other drugs have been arrested.

The Sun Herald reports ( the men were arrested Tuesday and indicted by a grand jury on multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. Other drugs involved in the investigation include cocaine and marijuana.

Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director John Dowdy says the arrests were made after a two-year investigation by multiple agencies including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department.

44-year-old Patrick "Puppy" Johns, 32-year-old Paul "Soulja P" Simmons Jr., 28-year-old Antonio Irwin, 41-year-old Timothy Jackson and 48-year-old Dennis Smith were arrested.

It's unclear if the accused have lawyers.
