5 men arrested for drug-trafficking in Pearl River County

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Following a two-year, multi-agency drug investigation, five members of a Pearl River County drug-trafficking organization have been arrested. 

According to police, Patrick Johns, a/k/a Puppy, 44; Paul Simmons Jr., a/k/a Soulja P, 32; Antonio Irwin, 28; Timothy Jackson, 41; and Dennis Smith, 48 were arrested on June 13 and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute as well as conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. 

Some of the five men - all from Picayune - have alleged gang memberships. Drugs included in the charges include marijuana, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

The suspects made an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Gulfport on Wednesday. 

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Pearl River County Sheriff Department, and the Picayune Police Department all assisted with the investigation.
