People are mourning the loss of 21-year-old father of three Blake Carroll. Carroll was shot and killed Sunday night in an altercation that turned deadly.

His accused killer, Long Beach resident David Ryals, is behind bars charged with murder.

One mutual friend of both the victim and the accused killer is taking a stand against violence.

"When I woke up this morning and heard something like this, it's just too much," said Kodie Wehring. "Blake would do anything for anybody. He didn't even have to be your friend."

Sunday night, Carroll's life was cut short in front of his home on Sap Root Rd. in Pass Christian. Investigators say a fight broke out between his fiance, Alexis Sanders, and several other people.

Wehring tells us Carroll was only outside to make sure his fiance wasn't outnumbered and jumped but wasn't involved in the fight at all.

"After the fight was over and done, it was over with. As they were walking home, boom boom boom boom. Four shots and he was shot in the head," said Wehring.

Deputies say Ryals, 19, pulled the trigger. According to an affidavit, Ryals admitted to firing the shots, but didn't know he had hit anyone.

"It was just kind of hard to even understand. When people were like, 'David Ryals has a $1 million bond,' and we're like, 'David? for what?'"

Wehring is worried about the void that's now left in Carroll's family.

"His kids saw this. His mom saw this. They saw this man hit his knees. None of us understand why those shots were fired. It just doesn't make sense," said Carroll.
