Pitcher Corbin Burnes and the Biloxi Shuckers shutout Jacksonville 3-0 on Monday

BILOXI, MS (Biloxi Shuckers) -

Corbin Burnes (W, 1-0)  posted his first Double-A victory Monday night,a gem of a performance in helping lead the Shuckers past the Jumbo Shrimp. The MGM Park crowd of 1,822 fans watched Burnes give up no runs on one hit with eight strikeouts in six innings.  Burnes, who was 5-0 with the Carolina Mudcats, also drove home his first run in Double-A ball with a sacrifice fly ball in the fourth inning.

Blake Allemand had 2 hits in 4-at bats and scored a run.   Johnny Davis had 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate and scored a run.  Jacob Nottingham drove home the Shuckers first of two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.  He was 2-for-3 at the plate.  

Javier Bettancourt drove home the Shuckers final run with a single in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Matt "Cowboys" Ramsey picked up his 15th save for the Shuckers.  He pitched the 9th inning, gave up 1 hit with 2 strikeouts.

Biloxi and Jacksonville are 2 and 2 and play in the rubber match 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at MGM Park.

The Shuckers (33-31) are 4 games behind Pensacola in the Southern League South Division standings.
