DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLOX) -

Diamondhead has two key city positions open. City leaders are looking to hire a new city manager and a treasurer.

According to the city's website: "The City Manager is the administrative head of the City and is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all city departments with the exception of Police and establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, elected and appointed public officials, representatives of business and government organizations, and the general public as set forth in MS Code §21-9-29." The site goes on to state that, "The City Manager is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of a mayor and 5 member council who serve for four year terms."

The deadline to apply for city manager is Friday, July 14, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. CST.  Right now Diamondhead Public Works Director Richard Sullivan is filling in as interim city manager. That position became open last month when Clovis Reed resigned.

If you are interested in the treasurer's job, Diamondhead's website states,"The Treasurer is responsible for assisting in the planning and the organizing of all phases of the City’s municipal accounting or budgeting activities."  The deadline for applying for this job is Friday 5:00 p.m. CST, July 7, 2017.

To find out more about the job requirements and qualifications you need to apply for either job, go to the Employment Resources section of the City of Diamondhead's website. You can apply there or submit your resume and application by mail or in person to Diamonhead City Clerk Jeannie Klein, 5000 Diamondhead Circle, Diamondhead, MS 39525.
