JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

The owner of a St. Martin gift shop was arrested Friday and charged with filing a false police report. Sheriff Mike Ezell said Luis Antonio Diaz falsely reported an armed robbery at Dino’s Gift Shop over the weekend.

Charges against the couple charged in the case have been dropped, Ezell said. Erin Elizabeth Diaz and Clinton Buchanan had been charged with armed robbery.

According to Ezell, Luis originally told investigators Elizabeth was his ex-wife. Deputies later learned she is his estranged wife, Ezell said.

Luis, 26, reported the gift shop robbery Saturday. He alleged Elizabeth stabbed him when he tried to stop her from taking cash out of the register. Ezell said after further investigation, detectives determined Luis was stabbed during an altercation with Elizabeth over money. It is unclear how Luis was stabbed.

Luis was booked into the Jackson County Adult Detention Center on a $6,000 bond for the misdemeanor charge.
