The 2017 Southern League All-Star Game is set for June 20 at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola, Florida. Players received votes from managers, broadcasters, general managers and print media representatives.
When the votes were tabulated, five Biloxi Shuckers were named to the South Division roster.
22-year-old Mauricio Dubon will be the starting shortstop. He ranks third in the league with 64 hits and tops the Southern League with 26 stolen bases.
Dustin DeMuth will play first base for the South All-Stars. He's hitting .250 with nine doubles and 20 runs batted in.
Angel Ventura will make his first All-Star appearance. He has posted a 3-4 record and a 2.37 ERA for the Shuckers. On Tuesday Ventura pitched a season-high seven innings in the Shuckers 7-1 win over the Mississippi Braves.
Aaron Wilkerson has been impressive for the Shuckers this season. He carries a 4-2 record with a 3.65 earned run average in 10 starting assignments. He earned Southern League Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of May 21 after taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning against Mississippi.
Matt Ramsey is the Shuckers third pitcher named to the All-Star team. In 14 save appearances, he's perfect. Ramsey is 2-1 with a 2.53 earned run average in his first season in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
