Estate Goes on the Auction Block

"I would hope whoever buys the house will be as happy here as Fred and Martha have been and that the house will be as welcoming to all their friends as it has been to Fred and Martha's friends," says Fred and Marth Lavert's business manager Judith D'Angelo. The next owners of Gulf Breeze Estate will be whoever offers the highest bid at the June 19th auction of the six thousand square foot house. For almost 20 years the Lavert's have lived an elegant but casual lifestyle in their waterfront home with its beautiful view of the Mississippi Sound. D'Angelo says after trying to sell the house for two and a half million dollars, the Lavert's are putting it on the auction block. "However they have lots of good memories of the home and I don't think they'll give up those friends and family with the house. It's just too big a house for two people and they no longer wanna be saddled with the upkeep and the responsibility of such a large estate," D'Angelo says.

The three bedroom, four bath estate includes a pool and waterfall, a screened pool house and a guest cottage, all sitting on five landscaped acres.

"The thing that I particularly liked about it is the built in grill." Inside, there are many cozy spots to curl up in, the gourmet kitchen with a sitting area and fireplace, the wood paneled library with its floor to ceiling bookcases, and the sitting room in the master suite that overlooks the beach. A gallery separates the house from the patio. Family portraits and pictures are everywhere. And the high bidder will soon be able to hang their family photos in Gulf Breeze.

The Lavert's are giving up the home to live on their yacht.  Gulf Breeze will be auctioned at 1pm June 19 on the property at 533 East Scenic Drive.
