Diamond Championship Wrestling is a new organization based out of Diamondhead, but has shows all over South Mississippi.

Saturday was a night of suplexes and body slams at the Gulfport VFW at the inaugural show.

"I've been in the wrestling business for about 30 years. I use to run wrestling up in Michigan with the National Wrestling Alliance. I had a territory up there," DCW creator and promoter, Gene Miller recalled.

Now Miller has brought professional wrestling to the Coast, bringing live action and entertainment to several venues for a small price.

A variety of well-known local wrestlers appeared for the show with one thing in mind - DCW Championship titles.

One tag team on the quest for gold was Chris and Shawn Black, also known as the Black Dynasty. The two also own a wrestling promotion in the Kiln.

"I know that me and my little brother Shawn are in a tag match, and I know that DCW has tag belts and we're coming to get them," said Chris Black.

With all of the live action, the crowd was into the show.

"As an independent promoter, what we try to do is give shows to the community they'll enjoy, but also develop talent so that they can someday get to the big times," said Miller.

One wrestler who has already seen major success was former WWE tag team champion, Jon Heidenreich.

"I'm from New Orleans and I live in Mississippi. So it's great being able to do something that's awesome and fun, get paid and do the local shows where the people are right there. It's not like TV where you really can't interact. Here you can talk and it's cool. It's great." said Heidenreich.

The next DCW show will be in Biloxi on Saturday, June 17 and will feature Former WWE Intercontinental Champion The Honky Tonk Man.
