Councilman demands answers, results from East Biloxi contractor

Rain, like Wednesday's heavy downpours, makes matters arguably worse. Dust clouds give way to a sea of mud on the broken roadways, with potholes lurking beneath street flooding. BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

The frustration level is boiling over in East Biloxi over the seemingly never-ending roadwork. It's left residents shaking their heads and dodging the potholes, and a city council member proposing that funding be withheld from the contractor unless communication improves.

Ward two Councilman Felix Gines demands a better accounting from contractor Oscar Renda, who oversees work on the massive East Biloxi infrastructure project.

"It will be nice when it's finished," said Orel Ramsey, who lives near ground Zoe at Division Street and Nichols.

As for the dust the roadwork kicks up, "My curtains are a different color now and I have to change the air conditioning filter once a month," Ramsey said.
