Much Needed Rain Finally Falls In South Mississippi

After nearly two months of no significant rainfall along the coast, torrential rains fell on Thursday in some parts of South Mississippi. By far, Western Harrison county saw the most rain, with reports out of the Long Beach area coming in with over seven inches of rain. Some minor flooding was reported. Gulfport received over three inches and Biloxi got over an inch.

Thursday's rainfall accounted for 90 to 95 percent of the rainfall for the month of May in most locations. Light rain will continue to fall through the overnight hours in South Mississippi. The chance of showers and thunderstorms will last through Friday afternoon with things beginning to dry up as we head into the weekend.
