Police: Escaped Alabama inmate recaptured after 4 days

OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say an inmate who escaped from the Decatur Work Release Center on Friday has been recaptured.

News outlets report 38-year-old David Earl Cambron was arrested Monday afternoon in Madison County. Alabama Department of Corrections officials say law enforcement responding to reports of a burglary-in-progress found Cambron outside a residence, where he resisted arrest before running to another residence. He was arrested after an officer deployed a stun gun. Officers said he appeared to be under the influence.

The Alabama Department of Corrections has charged 35-year-old Virginia McLemore, 30-year-old Amy Payne and 36-year-old Wesley Paseur in connection with Cambron's escape. It's unclear if they have lawyers.

Cambron was serving a 20-year sentence after a 2013 conviction for manufacturing a controlled substance. He faces additional charges related to the escape.
