DENVER, CO (RNN) - The largest comic book store in the country was hit by a hailstorm on Monday, causing thousands of dollars in damages.

Charles Rozanski, who owns the store, said the hail knocked out 42 of the building's skylights and caused between $30,000 to $50,000 in damage to comics, toys and other merchandise.

The store covers 45,000 square feet and holds more than 10 million comic books.

In a follow-up Facebook post, Rozanski revealed that the damages could be more extensive than anticipated.

"That number may grow tomorrow, when we can more carefully assess the damage," he wrote. "It was definitely not a great day, but it most certainly could have been far worse," Rozanski said.

This is the first time Mile High Comics has been affected by such a drastic weather-related event since it moved operations to Denver, CO six years ago.
