More problems are being caused by the areas drought conditions. Low water pressure in Orange Grove and Lyman is causing city leaders to worry. Because of the drought the coast is suffering through, more and more residents are using their lawn sprinklers at a rate that is taxing the city's water system.
Mayor Bob Short says the most serious problem is north of I-10 and he's asking residents to voluntarily stop watering their lawns during peak hours, from 6 am to 9 pm. Gulfport officials are concerned that with the dry conditions and the low water pressure, the fire departments ability to fight fires could be in danger.
