LAKELAND, FL (WFLA/CNN) – Police arrested a woman wanted in Florida after she posted a video on Facebook Live that alerted investigators to her location.

Markesha Wilkerson, 18, posted a live video on Facebook showing what a good time she was having at Chuck E. Cheese’s.

But the woman wasn’t smiling for long.

Wilkerson had two outstanding warrants for improper display of a firearm and failing to appear in court. Thanks to the Facebook video, investigators figured out where she was.

"While we're on Facebook Live – voila – we discover this lady who has outstanding warrants," said Sheriff Grady Judd with Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Lakeland Police went to Chuck E. Cheese’s and arrested Wilkerson.

"Crazy criminals are appreciated. Stupid criminals are really appreciated. We highly recommend that if we are looking for you, that you immediately post all of your information that you can on Facebook, Instagram, tweet it out, however you want because that helps us!" Judd said.

Judd says this is a prime example of how social media is becoming a valuable investigative tool, helping to put criminals behind bars.

"Social media has totally changed the landscape. We know this: that people who commit crimes are going to get on Facebook. We know this: that witnesses and people interested in the community and want to help us solve crimes will get on Facebook,” Judd said.

Wilkerson has 14 previous charges, at least six of which are violent. At least one of those charges is a felony, so she has been denied bond.
