RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A State Trooper has accomplished something that very few Mississippians can claim. Thirty-five-year-old Trooper Kindle Jones not only finished the Boston Marathon on Monday in 2:10:01, he also placed second out of all Mississippians in the race.

It's his fifth marathon altogether, but he says the Boston Marathon is like no other. Jones tells us he ran six days a week to train for the race.

"I usually take Fridays off. Saturdays and Sundays is what we consider a long day, toward the end of the training you get up to 20, 22, 24 miles at a time," he said.  "I don't care how much you train, how many miles you put in, the monkey's gonna jump on your back somewhere around 22 miles. It definitely jumped on mine around mile 20."

Thomas Witter of Columbus came in first out of Mississippians in the marathon, with a time of 2:06:44.
