PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Pascagoula City Manager Joe Huffman has resigned, according to city spokeswoman Ravin Floyd. His last day will be May 12.

Huffman is leaving Pascagoula to take a job closer to his roots in The Carolinas. He will take over as Assistant County Administrator of Public Safety for Horry County, SC on May 22.

"We welcome Joseph to Horry County as he brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous government experience in Mississippi and North Carolina," Horry County Administrator Chris Eldridge said in a statement. "Joseph will be a strong and solid manager for our organization, and we are excited he is joining our team."

Huffman was hired as Pascagoula's city manager in 2011. Under his new position in South Carolina, he will oversee police, fire, and emergency management services.
