LYMAN, MS (WLOX) - Head coach Jimmy Parker knows how to build championship caliber teams. His Red Rebelettes have accomplished successful campaigns over the years.
When entering the Harrison Central softball complex...you can't help but notice the signs that display four state titles...including three consecutive Class 6A State Trophies...2014, 2015 and 2016.
After 22 games this season, the Red Rebelettes have 19 wins.
Coach Parker said, "We've been blessed to win. Great kids, hard workers. When you win like that, you have a target on your back and every time you win, the target gets bigger."
Ace pitcher Kristen Cade has posted 10 wins and 2 losses, a 1.28 earned run average with 67 strikeouts in 60 and one-third innings pitched.
"We don't want to get complacent, "stated Cade. "We want to practice like we've never won. That's what our motto is this year."
Slugger Amari Ramsey carries a .400 batting average with 3 home runs.
Ramsey said, "Everybody is out to get us. We've got a huge target on our back. But every time we get on the field we've got to take it to them like the three previous years."
Jhericka Strickland is only a sophomore but she knows what it means to represent Harrison Central on the softball field.
"We've had the target every year that we play, "said Strickland. "We come together as a bonding team and just play as a family and do what we have to do to get it done."
The Red Rebelettes travel to Lyman facing the Hancock Lady Hawks 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
