Biloxi Shuckers right handed pitcher Taylor Williams was back on the mound Saturday night. He made his Double-A debut and his first appearance since he played at Single-A Brevard County in 2014. Williams had missed two seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Williams pitching 3 innings on Saturday against the Montgomery Biscuits. He gave up only 1 hit, no runs, tossed 3 strikeouts and walked a batter.
Nick Ramirez picked up his first win on the mound after making the transition from slugger to relief pitcher during spring practice. The former Cal State Fullerton pitcher tossed one-third of an inning and struck out two batters.
First baseman Dustin DeMuth provided the big hits for the Shuckers. He belted a solo-home run in the top of the fifth inning. DeMuth provided the game winning hit in the top of the ninth with a RBI double that scored Michael Reed. DeMuth was 2-for-4 at the plate.
The Shuckers take aim on a fourth consecutive win 2:05 Sunday afternoon at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
