WOOLMARKET, MS (WLOX) - Hundreds of kids showed up Saturday for an Easter Extravaganza in Woolmarket.
They were on their marks and ready to go. As soon as they were given the green light, they were off and it didn't take them long to get the goods. Some children, like Shelby, even had a strategy.
"To get all the orange eggs," Shelby explained.
Others were just in it for the fun.
"I thought it was pretty fun hunting Easter eggs because it's something I can do with my little sister that she can do too," said Isabelle.
If the candy inside the eggs wasn't enough, those who found the prize eggs got even bigger prizes, like a bicycle.
"I think it's awesome because I don't like buying bikes and my favorite color is blue which is wonderful since it is blue," said Isabelle.
The Woolmarket Easter Extravaganza is just one of several Easter egg hunts hosted by the city of Biloxi.
"Next Saturday, we will have an Easter egg hunt in Hiller (Park) and then we will have a special needs egg hunt at the Town Green," said the city's park and recreation director Cheryl Bell.
Bell expects all of them to be well attended because parents seem to love these type of family-oriented events.
"I think it's great. I think it gets them involved with the community," said Lauren May. "It gets them out and running and a big part of growing up is running and getting out, having fun with family, friends instead of staying inside," said Lauren May.
Fortunately, the kids don't seem to mind hanging out with mom and dad if it means going home with a bag full of goodies.
"You get to spend time with your friends and family and have a lot of fun," said Shelby.
The city of Biloxi's next Easter Extravaganza will be on April 8th at Hiller Park from 2 to 4 p.m.
