OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

After years of sitting dormant, there may finally be some movement on property on the north side of Hwy. 90 in Ocean Springs.

Officials with Thrash Development, based in Hattiesburg, are proposing a $10 million, mixed use condominium project on the property that intersects with Bechtel Blvd. That's right across from the CVS Pharmacy.

Last week, the developers went before the Ocean Springs Board of Aldermen to present their plans. It calls for a total of five buildings, which will contain 92 condominiums.

Most of those condos would be located on the upper floors, with commercial development on the ground floor. Nearby business owners are happy with the prospect of additional customers located directly across the highway.

Meanwhile, city officials say it would be good to have the property back on the city tax rolls in a full capacity.

If all goes well, site work and clearing the property could begin sometime in May, with the actual construction set for later this year. City building officials also say the project would be built at one time and not in phases, another good sign.
