HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Harrison County sand beach crews are preparing for the rush of spring break visitors. Sand Beach Director Chuck Loftis said the 26 miles of sandy shoreline is in good shape to welcome the students and visiting families.
"We had a few days of strong wind, but overall the beach held up pretty well," said Loftis.
He added that MDOT crews have been busy scooping up the wayward sand. His workers have been doing the usual maintenance work; running the beach cleaners and using heavy equipment to pull piled sand away from the sea wall.
Not only are large crowds expected for spring break, but this weekend's bicentennial party will also mean more visitors to the beach. Loftis said the beach and his crews are both ready.
