MT. VERNON, AL (WLOX) -
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said the 2001 Cadillac that belonged to 65-year-old Jerry Floyd Kirkendall has been found in Alabama. His accused killer, 40-year-old Thomas Elliot Stafford, should be considered armed and dangerous, Ezell said.
Kirkendall’s body was found in a freezer inside a home he was renting in the Latimer community Monday. Investigators believe Stafford stole the Cadillac and left the state.
JAXCO sheriffs dept to me: We don't know where he is, we don't know how he's getting around
Ezell said a relative told investigators he gave Stafford cash and a 9mm handgun for the vehicle March 5, two days after Kirkendall was last seen alive. The cousin the reportedly drove Stafford back to Jackson County. The cousin said that was the last time they saw Stafford.
The car was found at the cousin's house Wednesday. No charges have been filed against the relative.
