Teen escapes overnight house fire

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A 13-year-old boy ran to safety after fire ate through his home overnight. According to Harrison County fire officials, flames shot through the roof of a Landon Road home at 3:30 Wednesday morning.

A neighbor told WLOX News Now the teen rushed to her home, knocked on the door, and asked her to call 911. Witnesses said the parents may have been at work when the fire started. 

As of 5:00 a.m. all hot spots were out. According to authorities, there is heavy damage to at least half of the single story home. 

Crews from Harrison County and Gulfport worked to put out the blaze.
