HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Narquita Ross, the aunt of 17-year-old Tyjuan Johnson says family is trying to find a way to cope with the fact that they'll never see his face again.
"He was laying all flat on his stomach, and blood was just running from underneath him like it was water," said Ross. "He'd be over here all day, he even sits over here at night," said Ross.
But Monday night, something went tragically wrong.
"I was in my room and we heard the shots and I called the police and told them that shots had been fired," said Ross.
But what she didn't realize was that her nephew was involved. Police arrived to find the 17 year old lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
"I still can't believe my brother's gone, it just feels like a nightmare," said the victim's brother, Juan Harvey.
Family says the incident happened after an altercation involving several other teens. Johnson was an innocent bystander in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
"For that guy to just take his life and just shoot an innocent person. That's someone we can't get back. I won't be able to see him come into my house anymore," said Ross.
Police believe that 22-year-old Edward Earl Dubose, who was arrested shortly after the incident, is the man who pulled the trigger.
"I'm just glad he's off the streets so he can't hurt anybody else," said Harvey.
Ross says she forgives her nephew's killer, but hopes he's behind bars for a very long time.
"He needs to be prosecuted to the fullest," added Ross.
Dubose is currently behind bars at the Harrison County Jail, where he is being held on a $2 million bond.
