WOOLMARKET, MS (WLOX) - After hearing from frustrated residents and a hopeful developer, the Biloxi City Council voted 5-2 to approve a zoning change that could bring a residential development to Woolmarket.
The rezoning will change a 600-acre agricultural area north of I-10 to mixed use. The decision paves the way for the proposed Belle La Vie development, which is being touted as a "city within a city."
Neighbors in the area are concerned such developments will erase the area's rural feel. They also said current developments that are incomplete should be finished before adding any new construction.
Pitcher Point Investments, the company looking to develop Belle La Vie, said Woolmarket is a desirable area people want to move to, and failing to plan for future growth could cause the area to miss out on later investments.
