Hundreds of people remembered those who gave their lives to insure our freedom on Saturday. About 400 people placed American Flags on nearly 11,000 graves at Biloxi National Cemetery . In less than half an hour, they made sure that the grave of every veteran buried at the cemetery had a flag to honor it.
Military personnel from Keesler Air Force Base, the Seabee Base and Naval Station Pascagoula spent the morning putting up full sized flags. Some people say being a part of this event taught them a valuable lesson about the sacrifices vets have made.
"I have three boys, and I thought it would be a good experience for them to see people that died for their country," Celeste O'Keefe said. "I knew that it would be a real emotional experience, something I'll always remember."
There will be a ceremony honoring our nation's veterans at Biloxi National Cemetery Monday at 9:30 a.m.
