HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a deadly overnight shooting in the Crown Hill neighborhood off Three Rivers Rd.

Chief Deputy Ron Pullen said 22-year-old Edward Earl Dubose has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old boy. Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove identified the teen as Tyjuan Johnson.

Pullen said deputies responded to the call of shots fired on Hopewell Ln. around 11:30 p.m. Monday. That’s where deputies found the teen shot to death in a driveway. Pullen said the teen was shot several times.

Investigators said eyewitness accounts led them to believe Dubose pulled the trigger during an argument with the teen.

Pullen said Dubose was arrested at the Walmart on Hwy. 49 just after 1 a.m. Tuesday. Gulfport police assisted with the arrest.

Dubose remains behind bars at the Harrison County jail on a $2 million bond while he awaits his initial court appearance.

Residents in the Crown Hill neighborhood are no strangers to violence. Last year, there was a double homicide in the area after what officials described as "a drug deal gone bad."

"We do have a high volume of calls there, including non-violent burglaries, kids shooting out streetlights and windows with BB guns," Pullen said. "We've made strides in community relations out there, but there's more work to be done."
