VCU coach Will Wade has agreed to become the new head coach at LSU

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Will Wade is only 34-years-old and apparently had a number of college programs after his services.  On Monday night ESPN reported that Wade agreed to a six-year deal to become the next men's head basketball coach at LSU.  Reportedly his six-year contact is in the range of $12 million.

He guided VCU to the NCAA Tournament in the two years he coached the Rams.  In two seasons VCU posted 51 wins and 20 losses.

North Carolina State and Clemson were also interested in hiring Wade.  INC-Wilmington head coach Kevin Keatts was hired by NC-State.

Before taking over the VCU job, Wade was the head coach at Chattanooga.  He guided Chattanooga to 18 wins and 15 losses in his first season and was 22 and 10 before accepting the VCU job.

He replaces Johnny Jones who was fired by LSU after the Tigers posted a 10-21 record this season, including 15 consecutive losses.
