Miguel Angel Jimenez captured the 2016 Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic and he will return to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to defend his title. Known as "the most interesting man in golf, "Jimenez shot a tournament record final 8-under 64, including four straight birdies from #10 to #13, to win by two strokes. He played the final 30 holes of the tournament without a bogey.
There will be a reunion of the 2000 Dunhill Cup champions with the return of Jimenez, Miguel Angel Martin and Jose Maria Olazabal. They represented Spain and was the last winning team from the Alfred Dunhill Cup, that was played from 1985-2000 at the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland.
The tournament announced the 2017 sponsor exceptions; Jay Don Blake, Brian Henninger, Jim Gallagher Jr., Miguel Angel Martin and Rod Spittle.
The 2017 Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic begins March 30-April 2 at Fallen Oak in Biloxi.
