Nothing says fun quite like a day at the fair, and that's where hundreds of people were Sunday afternoon, including the Billiots, who wanted to celebrate a few important occasions in style.
"It's my daughter's birthday today and it's Father's Day and we come down to the Coast this weekend just to have a good time in the sun," said Kirby Billiot of Carriere.
And it seems like a good time was had by all.
It was hard not to with such features as Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, a petting zoo, and of course, the rides.
But if the heat was a bit much for you, you could have a seat in the shade and participate in the 3rd annual John Madden playstation football tournament, hosted by WJZD-FM.
There was something for everyone, and organizers say this year's fair has definitely been a success.
"I would say that we're somewhere in the neighborhood of ten to fifteen percent ahead of last year's numbers," said coast coliseum assistant director Matt McDonnell.
And that success comes in spite of losing one day to Tropical Storm Arlene.
But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and that includes all of the rides, the games, and yes, the food.
That is until the summer of next year.
The 19th annual Summer Fair ended Sunday evening at nine.
But get out your calendars because the Summer Fair will be held June 8 thru 18 of next year.
