(RNN) - Professor Robert Kelly thought he never would be invited on TV again after his small children interrupted his BBC interview from home on Friday -  “We thought it was a disaster.”

“My real life punched through the fake cover I had created on television,” he said. “This is the kind of thing a lot of working parents can relate to.”

The family moment caught on live TV has inspired gifs and even mockery.

Kelly, a political science professor at Pusan National University in Busan, South Korea, was online discussing the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye and relations with North Korea when in waltzed his 4-year-old daughter, Marion, followed in short order by 8-month-old son James in a walker and, finally, Kelly's frantic wife Kim Jeong-ah.

For his Wednesday BBC interview, the professor was joined by his whole family. The family also addressed the media in South Korea in a news conference, verifying that he was wearing pants.

He also said he wasn't shoving his daughter, rather redirecting Marion to the books and toys, the New York Times reported.

Kelly said though he and his wife were offended by the assumption that she was the nanny, they weren't as offended as some of the commentators online.

“Neither one of us are interested in politicizing this or having this provoke a backlash,” he said.

He moved to South Korea in 2008 where he met Kim, a yoga teacher.

Since the interview-gone-viral, Kelly's family has been besieged by phone calls.

"This is now the first line in my obituary," he admitted to a news conference.
