Montgomery family pushes for new leads in 2015 killing

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A Montgomery family is offering a reward for information into the 2015 slaying of a 75-year-old man who was gunned down while trying to sell a $50 rifle for a friend.

WSFA-TV (http://bit.ly/2nwrdKW ) reports that Jim Chapman was killed in a parking lot in southern Montgomery on Nov. 29, 2015. Chapman was doing a favor for a friend by arriving at the parking lot to sell the rifle to someone.

Chapman's daughter Jessica Horton says her father was shot as soon as he got out of his car.

In an effort to move the case forward, Chapman's family and friends have put up a $1000 reward, which Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is matching.

The victim's relatives are calling on the city and governor's office to help increase the reward.
