BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Anyone traveling over the Popps Ferry Bridge on Saturday morning is advised to allow extra time due to work crews.

The City of Biloxi's Public Works Department began work on the bridge first thing Saturday morning and is expected to keep working until at least noon. Officials say they are welding to fix the steel grating on the bridge.

Because of the repairs, workers are directing traffic, taking turns letting vehicles from the north- and south-bound lanes through. Please expect and plan for delays or take a different route.

Authorities say this is a followup from work that began Thursday.
