HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Dozens of high school golfers faced off Friday during the eighth annual Gulf Coast Girls Invitational at Dogwood Hills in Harrison County.
It was the season's first big golf competition, with girls from 16 high schools from six southern counties participating.
While some of the player have grown up playing golf, others are learning the sport for the first time. Regardless, Dogwood Hills Golf Club General Manager John Wetzel says there was plenty of talent at the tee during this year's invitational.
"Some of (the girls) have signed contracts to Mississippi State (University), I've heard," he said. "Two of them signed with Ole Miss, I've heard. So really, a bunch of great players."
D'Iberville High School won the tournament.
