Police Cutout Getting Drivers To But On Brakes

The Gulfport Police Department's officer in charge of the traffic division now has his twin working on the force...sort of.

You have probably seen Lt. Joe Langenbacker around the city. Now a life-sized cutout of Lt. Langenbacker holding a radar gun is being used to fool drivers. The Gulfport police are putting the cutout in a car to make drivers think that it's the real thing, and it's working.

"Out here you have people who immediately look at the standup, they are hitting their brakes and making them check their speed," Sgt. Alfred Sexton said. "We are actually having people pay close attention."

Lt. Langenbacker, at least the cut out version, was on Washington Avenue. The city will move it to various spots throughout Gulfport.
