KILN, MS (WLOX) - You know what they say about one man's trash. It can be turned into a yard sale, and Hancock County has a big one twice a year.
If people have something to sell in Hancock County, chances are you'll find them on Rocky Hill Dedeaux Rd. in the Kiln this weekend.
This neighborhood yard sale had its debut last year, and the folks who put it together say it stretched for seven miles before the weekend was over. This year, they expect an even bigger turnout along Rocky Hill Dedeaux Rd. and Standard Dedeaux Rd.
Organizer Stephanie Ladner said the big event gives her a feeling of nostalgia.
"We're an old community. We've had garage sales here for years and years," said Ladner. "My grandfather brought me when I was about two or three years old, and we went all the time. I remember getting up at five o'clock to get dressed and him having his coffee and us going and buying and selling things. Now, he's too old to go, so I said I would bring the yard sale to him."
Last year, people from different states were stopping in. The yard sale is open to anyone who's looking to buy or sell. The sale runs through Saturday.
