(RNN) - A financial firm employee in Chicago was fired after tweeting some harsh remarks about the widow of the U.S. Navy SEAL that was killed during a raid in Yemen.

Chicago Tribune reported that Daniel Grilo sent the tweets during President Donald Trump’s first address to Congress.

During the address, Trump acknowledged Carryn Owens, the wife of William "Ryan" Owens, the SEAL who was killed during an al-Qaida-targeted raid in Yemen.

Owens was in attendance and sobbed as Trump talked about her husband’s service and death.

In response to the moment, Grilo sent out the tweet, "Sorry Owens' wife, you're not helping yourself or your husband's memory by standing there and clapping like an idiot. Trump just used you."

The comment was met with backlash, and even Donald Trump Jr. tweeted about the harsh nature of the remarks.

Grilo was the target of attacks on social media and websites like 4chan and Reddit. He deleted his Twitter account and issued a public apology for the tweet.

"Folks, clearly a poorly worded tweet. I apologize to all and am deeply moved by all your comments. Thank you for your feedback," Grilo said.

Liberty Advisor Group, Grilo’s employer, terminated him and deleted his profile from their website.

Liberty later issued a statement, clearing themselves of any ties to Grilo's remarks and his Twitter.
