Hundreds Take Tour Of Dream Home

While some people enjoyed a small cookout outside of this year's St. Jude Dream Home in Savannah Estates, others were inside getting an eyeful of the new 32-hundred square foot beauty.

And there was definitely a lot to see - and that's just in the living room.

"We got over 18 foot tall vaulted ceilings. We got a fireplace with a way oversize mantle that actually goes up to about ten feet high and has special lights built in the mantle," said American Homes vice president of sales Kevin Hines.

There is special lighting all over the 350-thousand dollar home, which includes 3 bedrooms, along with a study and a formal dining room.

The kitchen includes such amenities as a spice rack and a walk-in pantry.

And speaking of amenities, the master bathroom is full of them, including a new feature in the shower.

"It's got body sprayers. There is actually no door on the shower because it is so large, the water won't spray out of the shower," said Hines.

Many of the spectators say the home is nothing short of elegance, which is what designers of American Homes were going for.

St. Jude Hospital is very special to the family-owned company.

"My brother got treated with Hodgkin lymphoma. He was in the third stage, almost into the fourth, and he had some of the strongest dozes of the type of chemicals that they injected into him, and he's a survivor, he's in remission," said Hines.

And because of that, they have designed something to raise money for the hospital to try to match the hospital's hard work.

But that isn't the only donation.

The new homeowner will also receive an original painting by artist Robert Wells, and stained glass windows by Wanda Dobbs.

Now that's living.

Tickets for the dream home are one hundred dollars each.

A ticket also puts you in a drawing for thirteen other great prizes as well.

The drawing is June 26th on WLOX-TV.
