GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Developer Robert Lubin has some big news concerning a proposed casino project near the Gulfport Harbor and plans to renovate the dilapidated Markham Building.

Lubin tells us he will be able to meet all deadlines for the proposed casino set for Tuesday. He said the $40 million needed to fund the casino project is secured.

Lubin also said the unofficial name of the proposed gaming facility is the Golden Harbor. Lubin expects to return to the Mississippi Gaming Commission in March to get approval to proceed with the project.

Lubin also said Tuesday the plans for the Markham renovation are changing. In August, it was announced the eyesore building would be transformed into a 64-unit, high-end apartment building. Now, Lubin says the building will become a hotel to compliment the Mississippi Aquarium project being built nearby.
